So even though it is supposed to be Movie Trailer Monday, I don’t have a movie trailer today. But with good reason.
For the past 10 days, the Sundance film festival has been happening in Park City, Utah. And the film I have read about over and over is the movie Fruitvale. It is the story of Oscar and his interactions with a number of different people on 12/31/08. Sounds generic, right? Sundance didn’t think so. Fruitvale ended up taking the awards for Grand Jury Prize Dramatic and Audience Award Dramatic. It has also been reported that The Weinstein Company picked up the movie for approximately $2.5 million. Not enough? It’s a true story and the cast includes Michael B. Jordan and Octavia Spencer. Michael B. Jordan used to be on one of my favorite shows, Parenthood. He was also in one of the best films of last year, Chronicle. And Octavia Spencer just won an Academy Award last year for her role as Minny in The Help.
I searched to no avail for a trailer but still felt the movie needed to be put on your radar. So here is the link to the movie on www.imdb.com. I smell Oscar.
UPDATE: The trailer for Fruitvale Station was released at the end of last week and I am so excited to share it with you guys! You can feel the tension from the moment it begins. Have a good week!
